Hingham Heritage Visitor Center at Old Derby
34 Main Street
Hours of Operation: Tuesday - Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Whether you’re interested in genealogical research, information on an historic home or building, or just wondering where to get a great cup of coffee in town, the Hingham Heritage Visitor Center can help.
Housed in the Old Derby Academy in the heart of Hingham Square, the Visitor Center offers information about Hingham, both old and new. Come and discover stories of Hingham’s founding families, learn more about the history of a particular building or home, or delve deeper into Hingham’s industrial, religious and political past. Students can also come here to find resources for term papers and projects relating to Hingham history.
In addition, the center offers walking maps of historic Hingham, highlighting points of interest, a listing of historic cemeteries, and information on Hingham’s unique restaurants and shops.
The Visitor Center also houses the Out of the Ordinary Gift Shop, with a wide ranging collection of books, post cards, and one-of-a-kind gifts, all with a Hingham historical twist.
The Hingham Heritage Visitor Center should be your first stop in exploring everything Hingham has to offer. Staffed by knowledgeable Historical Society volunteers, they’ll point you in the right direction – no matter where (or when) you want to go.
